The Americas Cup – The Florist Olympics

We at Grower Direct are very proud to have had one of our own competing in the prestigious Americas Cup 2011 international floral design competition which was recently held in Holambra/SP – BRAZIL. This competition brings together the best of the best of floral designers from around the world.

Heather de Kok, AAF, AIFD, PFCI who owns and operates one of our stores in Edmonton, Alberta was chosen to represent Canada in the competition.  Heather began at an early age working in the floral industry with her parents, Skip and Caren Kerr. She has been involved with the floral industry for well over 17 years now and she has long since replaced her parents in the day to day operations of the store.

Although this was Heathers first time competing in the America’s Cup she manged to place fifth (5th) in the overall competition and came in third (3rd) in the Peoples Choice Award. Like the Olympics,  just being invited to this level of competition shows the incredible commitment an individual has made to excelling in their chosen field.

Congratulations To Heather de Kok from all your friends at Grower Direct
