Edmonton’s Muttart Conservatory has devoted an entire pyramid to the Orchid. After a full year of planning the incredible display is open to the public from now until Oct 23. If you’re avid about Orchids this is a DO NOT MISS event!
With over 50 species of orchids in bloom and on display this event is a true orchid lovers dream.
According to the Edmonton Journal, the Muttart has decided to display these orchids in an unusual way, they are using myths related to the flower to show them off in their best light. You will see Victorian figures draped in orchids representing an old belief that the flower was too exotic for “proper ladies”. You’ll even see them in a skull relating to a story that the first orchid was found in the new world, growing out of the eye socket of a skull!
These exotic blooms are sure to delight and amaze all visitors to the Muttart, I for one will be there with bells on!
